Now that those are out of the way, onto business! There are exciting times ahead in Criccieth for a new Tackle Shop opening up in Nefyn Cleaners. It will be called “The Criccieth Tackle Box” and will provide for all your angling needs, mainly concentrating on Predator fishing (Fly, Spinning, Bait fishing) or Sea Fishing. It will be open before the Start of the Season so remember to stop by! Contact Russell on 01766 523633 or “Like” the group on Facebook.
In the past, the Dwyfor AA has been responsible for supplying the Welsh Fly Fishing team with truly excellent anglers who have been VERY successful on the International stage earning many caps between them. In recent years however, the numbers have reduced. In 2012, one Aled Hughes, Grandson to our Multi-Internationally Capped Secretary Mr Geraint Pritchard made it into the Welsh Youth International held on Lough Owel resulting in 4th place for the team who fished in VERY challenging conditions. This year there is a debut cap in the Welsh Team from Carl Williams who qualified in 6th place in the trials last year in only the second time of asking, following in the footsteps of his Grandfather Emrys Owen. He will be taking part in the Autumn Internationals in Brenig in September. Still on the Internationals topic, there is always room for a few more to participate, therefore any interested individuals should contact the secretary of the club for forms.
With regards to the website, there will be a map of all the pools along the river that will be uploaded in the coming days. The information on the Upper Section Pools on the river will be updated as soon as possible including descriptions and photos.
With the vast history on the river, the stories by fishermen are endless. Therefore I am contemplating putting a new tab on the site to include past tales on the river. To do this however, I’m looking for individuals to provide any stories they might have for the river. If you want to share, please write to us! Old Pictures would also definitely be a welcome edition!
Anyway, that’s all for now, no doubt I’ll be posting before the start of the season. Keep an eye out on the Facebook news feed for upcoming news and events!
Hope to see a few of you in the AGM Next Weekend.
